Final project-Technology planning in schools

Rising enrollments and rapid developments in technology are the two primary reasons that communities across the nation are in need of building new schools and/or renovating existing ones. Since educators recommend school enrollments do not exceed 600, there is a need to build new schools to accommodate the increase in enrollments. Technology is the second primary reason that communities need to upgrade their facilities.

(Planning for Technology – school renovation and construction)

Although technology planning occurs at multiple “levels,” many functions are identical in principle. Planners must engagethe services, creativity, and assistance of all stakeholders. Efforts of all participants must be marshalled to meetestablished timelines, to accept the subdivided responsibilities that are ushering groups into action, and evaluating theirimplementation all along the way. Planners at the local, district, and state levels are encouraged to craft a mechanism, too,

that will ensure their ability to share the work they create. Through this open, willing sharing, all learners will prosper

State, District, and Local Planning for Technology

Technology planning efforts at the school district level will be enhanced, with regard to quality, if the school business manager is involved. Even planners at the building level would be well-advised to include the SBM in major portions of their deliberations. By the same token, the SBM has a significant role to play by offering his/her services to technology planning efforts in the district.

The Role of the School Business Manager in Technology Planning

Technology planning is not quick or simple. There is no magic formula for success. In order to make informed decisions, you will need access to technology expertise. You may also want some guidance just managing the planning process. Whether or not you can do your planning on your own depends on the technology expertise you have on staff already. Most nonprofits do not have enough know-how to complete the whole planning process, including deciding which type of network they need, or how best to connect to the Internet. In most cases, TechSoup recommends that you do draw on outside resources.

What’s Involved in Technology Planning?

Seven steps to a better technology plan

Sometimes we get lucky and things work without too much planning. Usually, however, a good plan is a prerequisite for positive results. The technology planning process itself provides a rare opportunity to look at the overall systems in place to support your development work. It is a time to re-think how your office operates and to improve your access to information, subsequently building better relationships with your donors and prospects .
